Want to Learn a Craft?

Crafting can be social as well as relaxing. Consider a joint project with friends
Relaxing & knitting with friends

I find when I am crafting I am at my most relaxed. I can think of nothing better than to see a piece of work come alive before my eyes. The pleasure it has given me in producing something for myself, my home or others has never waned. I don’t think it will – well I certainly hope not. Of course I have had to adapt, my fingers are not as nimble and my eyes not as good but there is always a solution. Glasses, magnifying lens, supports for craft frames, you think of it someone has invented it. Now with the internet there is so much opportunity to explore and learn all the different crafts, find all the available courses, equipment and patterns or instructions. Where ever you are in the world there is access to a range of crafts, although to learn the skill I still think via a mentor is the best both for the learner and the teacher. Sharing ones skills is a wonderful feeling.

Now learning to knit is a skill and as with any skill it develops over time; practice and knowledge being essential components. As I now teach crafts quite frequently I wanted to learn how to do it better, I found this website useful; I know it is about nursing ( which I trained as) but it has a wider application and I love that I am using knowledge that is international. If you are a crafter do not be afraid to teach your skills but do remember different people learn at different speeds and dexterity.
